There were two broad-winged hawks at the corner of Pekin & Ravenna Rds. in Newbury Twp, Geauga County. Don't know if they were a pair (drive-by birding), but they were flying in close proximity and one vocalized. My husband almost texted me to alert me to the anticipated arrival of a rose-breasted grosbeak at our feeders in Claridon Twp. I'm sure it won't be long until I see him myself. Aside from avian species, came across a pickerel frog while on a hike through the woods. A small garter snake was basking in a sunny spot and two northern water snakes dove into the water as we passed by. Turtles were on the move across the roads, too. Saw a medium sized snapper and painted turtle make it safely across and lent a helping hand to a tiny painted turtle about as big as a quarter. That little guy had many steps to take before reaching the other side so assistance was in order. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
