Guilford Lake today, at about 6PM, did not produce any rarities, but the bird species present were in outstanding numbers. The biggest surprise was a raft of over 280 Double-crested Cormorants. For about five minutes there was some excitement with lightning and small hailstones. 14 species of waterfowl were found. Some of the other highlights were: American Black Duck~30+,   Green-winged Teal~20+,   Ring-necked Duck~60+,   Bufflehead~40+,   Red-breasted Merganser~450+,   Ruddy Duck~200+,  and Bonaparte's Gull~16+.
