Jeanne Williams and I checked out Peak Preserve and enjoyed great bird action in the warm temps and wind. Our high-five highlight was a flock of 60+ Lapland Longspurs in the field as we ended our walk. We also pondered whether a fresh-looking fairly large, oval-shaped tree hole had been made by a pileated woodpecker. The other sightings included: Turkey Vultures 6+ Am Robins numerous Mourning Dove Horned Larks 3+ Savannah Sparrows 3+ Song Sparrows 2+ Field Sparrow Buffleheads 5+ Mallards 2 Canada Geese 12+ Blue-winged teal Green-winged teal Red-winged blackbirds Brown-headed cowbirds Northern Flicker 2 Red-tailed hawk on nest Gulls unknown American Crows 2 North Shoveler American Coot Starlings Tree Swallows Northern rough-winged swallows Barn Swallow ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
