I walked the spring bird walk at Headlands Beach SP for about a 3 hour walk. There were many good birds, but the best had to have been the Northern Saw-whet Owl that was spotted by Ray Hannikman. Also of note, an American Woodcock was flushed and flew directly above us. It then landed, but then flew off again and was not found. Another good spot was a GLAUCOUS GULL flying into the Grand River. Only about 3 people of the 17 on the walk were able to see the gull. Also, a big flock of about 100+ Bonaparte's Gulls by the pier of the Grand River. Other good birds spotted were Green-winged and Blue-winged Teal, Blue-gray Gnatcather, Hermit Thrush, Brown Thrasher, Blue-headed Vireo, and Yellow Warbler. Lastly, at my feeders later this afternoon, I had 2 male and 1 female Purple Finch. Good Birding, Cole F.
