I picked up yard bird number 117 today a surprise red-breasted nuthatch on the feeder! Especially because it is empty. I also have Savannah sparrow singing in the yard. At Springville Marsh today we had a Blue-winged warbler (among many others), banded a Marsh wren, and Tom Bartlett banded his 29,000th bird at the Marsh. Congrats Tom. Number 29,000 was a beautiful Yellow warbler. He banded a Belted kingfisher last week. If anyone has never experienced banding and close study of birds come to Springville next Sunday. It is a great little spot easy to get around and usually not crowded. Tom may have Big Sit hangover though.
