Yesterday I hiked the 2 mile Dogwood trail at Beaver Creek State Park in Columbiana Co. Water was high and there was significant flooding on the first half of the loop...it took some impromptu bridge building and a few less than graceful maneuvers to make it through. The payoff was a very cooperative Kentucky warbler and a flyby Fish crow on the interior side of the trail. This Kentucky was presumably the same male that I saw last week, but at least one additional bird was heard here as well. The Fish crow flew and called overhead not far from the same area. It was alone and not associating with any American crows. I have encountered this species in both Florida and Massachusetts so I am familiar with their call and comfortable with the ID. Ebird shows several recent reports nearby in western PA. There were plenty of other warblers around but most were heard and not seen. ~John -- www.johnguypetruzzi.com ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
