A quick check on Thoreau Lake independently by myself and Dan Sanders failed to find the Little Blue Heron reported here for the prior 2 days. Migration is definitely in the finishing stages here, with little in the way of waterfowl or migrant landbirds around the Lake, along the Lake trail, or around the Nature Center. The best birds were likely prospective nesters. Wild Turkeys were gobbling along the trail, and I heard singing Scarlet Tanager, Redstart, Kentucky, and Hooded Warblers. Yellow Warblers were singing around Thoreau Lake, which also had flycatching Eastern Kingbirds. The only plausible migrants were Black-thr.Green Warbler and Swainson's Thrush.
