I was at the impoundment in Lorain Harbor yesterday evening just before the
thunderstorms hit. I had a HUDSONIAN GODWIT in amongst the 100 or so
ring-billed gulls. The bird was there for about ten minutes before flying
north. It may have landed in the northeast end of the impoundment but with
the rain coming I didn't want to chance it. Other shorebirds present were
killdeer-6, semipalmated sandpiper-5, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER-2, least
sandpiper-8, and dunlin-2. There was also a second cycle lesser
black-backed gull. There were quite a few courting ruddy ducks on the
wetland. Also of note were two greater scaup.
