“eBird: Good for the Birds, Good for You!” will be presented by Ken Ostermiller. This is a free program at the monthly meeting of the Kirtland Bird Club (KBC) eBird, a real-time, online checklist program, can help you keep track of birds you have seen and show you where other birders have found the birds you want to see. eBird is a citizen science project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. Ken Ostermiller is an avid birder who remembers his first bird identification as a Yellow-shafted Flicker (now a Northern Flicker) in Michigan when he was 7. He enjoys observing the common birds of an area as much as seeking rare birds. As a volunteer, he reviews suggestions of bird reporting hot spots in Ohio for eBird, a free online checklist program launched in 2002 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society. All KBC monthly meetings take place at 7:30 pm at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (1 Wade Oval Dr, Cleveland) in the downstairs classroom. Admission is free; parking is free for KBC members (you can join at the meeting or online at the KBC Web site) so bring your parking ticket in to be stamped.
