I had a hour after spending another few hours happily watching the Kirtland's Warbler on Kinnear Rd. So I stopped by Sharon Woods Metro Park and hit the "Oak Openings Trail" and found warbler central. Big flock. At one point I had a nice male CERULEAN Warbler directly infront of my head, only about 8 feet off the ground. I stood there spellbound as it gleaned insects like a champ. Really cool. Very few thrush migrants and not any Empid. Flycatchers to speak of yet, but a few first of season birds. List of highlights:
American Redstart - 3
Magnolia Warb. - 6
Tennessee Warb - 10+ singing- giving good views
Cerulean Warbler - 2 (males chased each other)
Northern Parula - 4
Nashville Warbler - 15
Blackburnian Warb. - 4 (gorgeous as always)
Black-throated Blue - 2
B. and W. Warb - 2
Black-throat. Green Warb - 4
Hooded Warb - 1
Ovenbird - 2
Myrtle Warbler - 8
Com. Yellowthroat - 2
Yellow Warbler - 3
Palm Warb - 2
Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1
Wood Thrush - 2
Red-headed Woodpecker - 1 awesome adult
Good Birding!
