I made a loop through some of NE Ohio yesterday.  It was a multi-purpose trip, but I did get some birding in.  I was in parts of Mahoning, Portage, Geauga, Trumbull, and Ashtabula Cos.  In Mahoning Co. -- around my Poland Twp. yard (the last couple days) were sharp-shinned hawk, blue-headed vireo, red-breasted nuthatch, and purple finch.  In Coitsville Twp.  were wild turkey and 4 bobolinks.  Cliff swallows were seen at the I-76/80 bridges over Meander Res. and L. Milton.  In Portage Co. -- flooded fields along Pioneer Trail in Mantua Twp. had 5 lesser yellowlegs and 12 Wilson's snipes.  In Geauga Co. -- at LaDue Res.: 7 ruddy ducks, c. loon, double-crested cormorants, great blue heron, chimney swifts, red-bellied woodpecker, n. flicker, e. kingbird, tree swallow, house wren, gray catbirds, yellow warblers, yellow-rumped warblers, e. towhee, and rose-breasted grosbeak.   A little north of there in Newbury Twp. I came across a road-killed
barred owl.  In Trumbull Co. -- a n. mockingbird in Mesopotamia Twp. was my first for that area.  In Ashtabula Co. -- at Orwell marsh: a pair of blue-winged teal, pied-billed grebe, greater yellowlegs, 18 lesser yellowlegs, 6 solitary sandpipers, spotted sandpiper, least sandpiper, chimney swifts, e. kingbird, tree & barn swallows, e. bluebird, yellow warbler, c. yellowthroat, field sparrow, rose-breasted grosbeak, a latish rusty blackbird, and Baltimore oriole.  A bit of open country birding nearby produced n. harrier and Am. kestrel in Orwell Twp., solitary sandpiper in Rome Twp., and lesser yellowlegs at Morgan Swamp.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
