Saturday morning was spent appreciating the singing of a Dickcissel on a farm south of Sugarcreek. The bird would sing almost every 20 seconds from fence posts, grain bin rooftops and barn gates. It was my first good look at one and the male seemed to want me to remember him. Our friends that live there said it has been singing all spring. They didn't know what bird was singing but a neighbor birder heard it while driving by in their buggy, and stopped and told them the name of the bird. I first tried Didi-scoping from a long distance but the target was too small for focusing. I then went to telephoto lens and tried to get closer. After circling for a long time the bird let me approach to 10-15 yards. Pictures weren't great but good enough to stimulate memories of that morning.
