So I'm kayaking down the Scioto River to check out the Bald Eagles nest near Prospect when I notice something floating down the river towards me. At first I thought it was a tree branch but then it first appears to be a Loon. As it got closer the colors didn't match up to a Loon. Upon review of the field guide it turned out to be an immature Red-Necked Grebe just loving life floating on by. Doing some wing stretches and some short branch jumping. I'm guessing another week or two before the first flight is accomplished.
