I walked back to the golf course and dumping area next to the cemetery late this 
afternoon, and, amid the abundant killdeer, I found  two adult spotted sandpipers 
along with two chicks.

One of the chicks had pale spots on the breast, and the other didn't show any spotting 
at all yet, and still had downy feathers on it's head. (Sent me off to the web to read
up on polyandry, a new word in my vocabulary, to see if that  explained the difference
in the plumage.)
