Common Nighthawk was on the same branch high in the sycamore tree next to the river for the several last days. He was preening, calling, and just sunbathing. Also, I want to summarize my observation of the fledglings over June-July in this small but very bird-productive park. Fledglings of this summer so far -- mallard canada goose tree swallow rough-winged swallow cardinal carolina chicadee tufted titmouse carolina wren gray catbird blue jay robin starling downy woodpecker red-belied woodpecker white-breasted nuthach bluebird grackle warbling vireo red-eyed vireo blue-gray gnatcatcher eastern kingbird great crested flycatcher red-winged blackbird unfortunate song sparrows were seen raising only the cowbird babies. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
