As of 1:58PM the American Avocets are still present at the "Conneaut Sandspit". The usual Conneaut entertaining afternoon crowd has arrived; the most annoying is the dogs and their owners which apparently don't know about the leash law! The Avocets have been flushed several times, but fortunately they have each time, returned and found a new location to rest at! We have recorded about 38 species since our arrival. Some of the highlights were: 6 juvenile Bald Eagles, 1 female Ring-necked Pheasant, 4+ Yellow Warblers, 1 breeding plumage Bonaparte's Gull, 4+ Caspian Terns, 2 Sanderlings, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Semipalmated Plover, 4 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 4 Least Sandpipers, 10+ Bank Swallows, 2 Purple Martins, and 2 Cedar Waxwings. Bob and Denise Lane
