As I am going to be hip deep in building more "jigsaw puzzles"(cars) this weekend, I will not be able to go hurricane hunting, so I am asking that if anyone finds anything good from Irene over at Big Island or Killdeer area this weekend and upcoming week, to please post. Also if anyone is checking out Indian Lake area then please post as well. For the trivia buff birders out there, Fall and the Fall migration is fast approaching, I personally have dubbed it the "Will I ever get out of this factory and get to go birding!" time of the year.:-D But anyway, in honor of this changing of the seasons, I pose the following question: A recent Facebook post got me looking into a person who was a notable naturalist/photographer/a bunch of other "-ists" and "-ers". One of the things that this certain naturalist did was to write a few books. From the quote below, Name the writer and the book. Bonus points if you know what the name of the area of the country this person helped save. And Kudos as well if you refrain from using the Internet to get the answer...;-D "But the Cardinal had lost all liking for swamp life, so he stubbornly set out alone, and in a short time he had found another river. It was not quite so delightful as the shining river; but still it was beautiful, and on its gently sloping bank was an orange orchard. There the Cardinal rested, and found a winter home after his heart's desire." I will post the correct answer and any winners tomorrow. Good fortune and Happy Birding. Steve J.
