I did a spitwatch at Conneaut harbor this morning.  It was cloudy/rainy until after 10:00, then cleared and got windier.  People, dogs, and finally a windsurfer arrived after 11:00, by noon I packed it in and left.  Shorebirds trickled through and I ended up with 10 spp.  Highlights were: green heron, bald eagle, 4 semipalmated plovers, spotted sandpiper, 2 greater yellowlegs, 6 lesser yellowlegs (first juvs.), 2 semipalmated sandpipers, 8 least sandpipers (first juvs.), white-rumped sandpiper, 2 pectoral sandpipers, 2 short-billed dowitchers (hendersoni), Bonaparte's gull, lesser black-backed gull (second-cycle), 4 Caspian terns, belted kingfisher, 35 barn swallows, and yellow warblers (flying around and giving call notes like crazy).  Along Rte. 7 in eastern Ashtabula Co. I saw 2 Am. kestrels and e. kingbird.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
