Today, the Darke County Birders worked on a few OBBAII blocks in Darke County. One place we checked out for shore birds was the private wetland that I call Woods Road Wetland.
There we found
5 great blue herons
3 lesser yellowlegs
1 short billed dowitcher
1 least sandpiper
3 possible Baird's (straight bills, more than just a little bigger than the least, primaries longer than tail, tail appeared dark)
1 kestrel
3 tree swallows

At Coppess Nature Preserve
a fledged downy
giant swallowtail butterfly

At Winterrowd Wetland
Vesper sparrow feeding a fledgling
FLedgling willow flycatcher
great spangled frittilary butterfly

Along the road, we also found fledgling Baltimore oriole, dickcissel, robin, and redtail hawk.
