While taking my son to school this morning I glanced over next to the car at what I had presumed were sparrows. I was pleased to note about a dozen Horned Larks less than 5 ft. away on the cement curb of the parking lot. Usually they are flitting away from the edge of a road as I drive through the country. It was nice to get such a clear view of them. Also there were a couple dozen Kildeer arranged like sentinels around the edge of the lot taking advantage of the morning sun.
