Greetings all- A local shorebird workshop class recorded 22 species of shorebirds between Ottawa and Lorain today. Highlights includes two Hudsonian Godwits and a Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Ottawa, a Marbled Godwit and Whimbrel at Lorain, and 5 Buff-breasted Sandpipers and two Red-necked Phalaropes on Hale Road in Bellevue. A juvenile Laughing Gull at Laughing Gull at Lakeview Park in Lorain was enjoyed by many groups. To reach the shorebird habitat in Bellevue, take Route 269 south out of Castalia for about 5 miles. Pass Portland Road, and turn right (west) on the third road after Portland: Hale Road. Continue at least 3 miles west and look for a large flooded field, a wetland, on the left (south side of road). 10 species of shorebirds were found here. 80 species were recorded today between both sites.
