There was a great movement of birds today. Lots and lots of mergansers with a nice diversity of other species. Of note was an immature HARLEQUIN DUCK and surf and black scoters. There were over 100 surf scoters seen with flocks of 36, 34, 20, 11 and scattered singles. There was one flock of 14 black scoters with scattered individuals also. Most of the larger gulls were flying overhead. The only gull of note was a lesser black-backed gull that sat out on the lake.
