I arrived at Ashtabula harbor at about 3:45 only to hear the bird had just flown east. I hopped in my car and headed to Lakeshore Park where the bird was originally found. I pulled up, set up my camera and heard Jen say there it is. I focused on it and fired off four quick shots and the bird flew. It was not observed sitting again. It was observed a little after five by Jen who saw it fly out of one of the slips in the harbor. Ashtabula Harbor is large and there are a lot of hiding places for gulls. Hopefully it will be found again tomorrow and in an area where it can be observed by all. I have posted a couple distant shots at: http://www.rarebird.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6142&PID=18445䠍 I think the shots clearly ID it as a black-tailed gull. Great bird, Craig. Thanks to all who spread the word.
