I scoped the residential area next to Sandy Ridge in North Ridgeville this morning and saw no Short Eared Owls or Northern Harriers. However, I did notice that the landscape was a bit different from last year. The famous field where the SEO's displayed last year no longer had the taller growth of shrubs and weeds. It looks like the field has been mowed relatively recently. I'm not sure if this will have an effect one way or another on the SEO's return. On a similar note, I'm looking around for local areas that might be good habitat for potential snowy owls. Can anyone let me know the ideal habitat for Snowys? I think I'm going to head out to Lorain County Airport over lunch. Any info on good habitat areas to search would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
