Blendon Woods is located in the northeast corner of Columbus off of I 270 & Rte 161. Take the Little Turtle Way exit. The variety of Waterdfowl at Thoreau Lake is increasing. We are also seeing more of the winter seed-eating migrates. Below is a list of some of the birds seen today. I would like to thank the Columbus Audubon & Metro Park visitors for helping find the birds. Thoreau Lake Gadwall-34 A Widgeon-female A Black Duck-124 Mallard-31 Hooded Merganser-7 males, 4 female Belted Kingfisher N Shoveler-2 males, female Fox Sparrow Behind Thoreau Lake(closed to public except for Bird Hikes) Pileated Woodpecker-2 Carolina Wren N Flicker-10 Yellow-rumped Warbler Barred Owl Lake Trail Pileated Woodpecker Dark-eyed Junco-3 Nature Center Bird Viewing Window Barred Owl Hairy Woodpecker-male Turkeys-They can be seen everywhere, especially at Bird feeders.
