A first year LITTLE GULL(found by Robin) was observed by Helen Taft, Robin Slanie, Elza Phillips, John Pogacnik and myself at Lorain Harbor at about 1pm this afternoon. I life bird for most of us. It put on a good show flying in close rounding the pier, feeding just a few feet away and setting down in the water riding the waves. It seemed almost tame. It still remained when we left the harbor at 3pm. We had a single shorebird tuck into the breakwall near the hunting blinds but it never emerged to be seen in our scopes. In scanning through the gulls Helen found a single adult Bonaparte's Gull still in it's breeding plumage retaining it's full black head. Common Loons, RB Mergansers, and about 3000+ Bonaparte's Gulls were present. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
