Ohio birders, Great Horned Owls enter OBBA II safe-dates tomorrow (12/20), so any observation of the species can be entered in the Atlas database. For those of you participating in Christmas Bird Counts this is a great opportunity to help get these birds on the map. The species is still undocumented in many priority blocks across the state. You can find a map of your circle with owl status for priority blocks on our website: http://www.ohiobirds.org/obba2/owling2011.php Though Barred Owls do not enter safe dates until January, many initiate breeding early. Keep an ear open for territorial Barred Owls. Thanks again to all who have helped make the Atlas a huge success. Happy Birding!
