Today I got to do a little lake shore birding with Jake Saborse while home in OH for the holidays. Things were pretty slow for the most part. We started at Headlands SP in hopes of Purple sandpipers or other surprises but found next to no activity. How many grape vine tangles must I scour before I locate my nemesis saw-whet? From there, we hit Lake Shore Park where we failed to locate the BTG or any other transcontinental larids. On the way back we drove through the north end of Mosquito Lake, and while devoid of raptors, we had a Northern Shrike on North Park Rd across from the area headquarters. I saw a shrike around this location a couple years ago. It was a nice consolation prize to an otherwise slow bird day. ~John -- www.johnguypetruzzi.com ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
