Larry Jeanblanc, Julie Karlson, and I were out looking around Champaign County this morning for birds. As we were heading home we stopped at Honeywell where there has been a large flock of geese. Among the hundreds of Canada Geese were three Greater White-fronted Geese and a Wood Duck. This area is on Route 55 a little ways west of Route 68 on the southwest side of Urbana. Also the ponds near the sewage treatment plant had several hundred ducks. Most were Mallards but there were also several American Black Ducks, maybe 50 Ring-necked Ducks, a Canvasback, a pintail, and a wigeon. While we were there a Peregrine Falcon flew over. I don't know the street names but from Honeywell you would go west on Route 55, turn right on the next street, then left at the next street and then left. It's also the location for some sort of recycling for Urbana.
