A friend of mine was looking to beef up her birding skills, so I suggested a fun challenge: a friendly competition to see as many species as possible during January in Franklin County. A few other friends (who are new to birding) joined in, so I felt compelled to provide a little guidance to get them familiar with the local species they were likely to encounter in the coming weeks. Since this is ultimately an effort to learn more about the local birds, I decided generating a checklist using eBird data would be a quick and easy way to provide them with that familiarity. In case anyone else in the Columbus area would like to see the checklist, I've posted it online at: http://tinyurl.com/JanuaryBirdsFranklinOH To print it onto a single sheet of paper, download the original PDF and print it as a "brochure" or "booklet." Good birding, Paul Hurtado PS: Thanks to Dave Slager, Bill Whan and others for their feedback on an earlier version of the checklist. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
