Since one of my New Year's resolutions was to e-Bird more regularly, this seems like a good year to keep a County List. I haven't done one before, so I don't know what is a reasonable number to shoot for. Since my year lists usually run between 180-200, I thought 100 sounded like a nice round number. I got a good start today, with 34 species seen in Clermont County. Windy, rainy eather kept many birds grounded, and lowered my enthusiasm as well. Missed many easy birds, and didn't get to some places I had intended on visiting, so I'm not too disappointed. I never have the time or resources to attempt a January 100, so this gives me a more realistic goal.

Some interesting observations: I had Black Vultures before I saw Turkey Vultures, and Hairy Woodpecker before Red-bellied. No House Finches until I got home, and I had to cruise through a feed store parking lot to scrounge up my only House Sparrows of the day.

Good birding to all, and to all a Good-night!
