Besides the usual Canada geese and mallards, there were some interesting birds at Evans L. (Mahoning Co.) today - Am. black duck, Am.wigeon, 2 n. shovelers, 14 n. pintails, 2 ring-necked ducks, bufflehead, 6 hooded mergansers, ruddy duck, red-shouldered hawk, and 3 Am. coots.  Pine L. was devoid of fowl.  I searched a number of cornstubble fields around that part of  Mahoning Co., but didn't find anything but Am. crows feeding in them.  I did find a few horned larks in Beaver and Green Twps., and saw around 10 red-tailed hawks total (including 3 pairs).  Craig Holt, Lowellville
