Spent a very chilly afternoon at Funk, mostly at the wildlife observation tower. Highlights included 4 Snow Geese (light phase), tons of Northern Pintails, a couple of Black Ducks (probably more, but that was all I was able to pick out from the mallards), a small flock of Tundra Swans, two adult Bald Eagles, and Sandhill Cranes (not seen, but heard as I was setting up my scope). There are also hundreds of mallards and Canada Geese. I spent a while picking through the geese hoping for a Cackling and I did see one individual that definitely seemed much smaller than the others as it flew in; however I wasn't able to relocate it once it had landed--probably just wishful thinking.
Wilderness Rd. had more geese and mallards as well as a Great Blue Heron, handful of wigeons, and a male and female American Kestrel. Planning to head out again today to see if anything new is around.
