For details and pointers see: http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php Greater White-fronted Goose - Scott Myers had five at Thomas Wetlands, Paulding on 3 Feb Snow Goose - One was in Stark on 4 Feb (Betty Indriolo), seven at Funk Bottoms, Wayne on 7 Feb (Kent Miller) and one at Ottawa NWR, Ottawa on 6 Feb (Craig Moore) Ross’s Goose - Singles were reported in Lucas, Sandusky and Wayne Cackling Goose - Jen Brumfield had a single bird at Rocky Ridge, Cuyahoga on 5 Feb Surf Scoter - Singles were off Cleveland, Cuyahoga on 3 Feb (Paula Lozano) and Lake the following day (John Pogacnik) Black Scoter - One was off Rocky Ridge, Cuyahoga on 4 Feb (Jen Brumfield) and Brian Zwiebel had one in Lucas the next day Golden Eagle - One was found at The Wilds, Muskingum on 3 Feb (Kathy Mock et al) BLACK-TAILED GULL - Nearing three months, the Ashtabula bird is still present as of today (m.obs). For more information see (http://northnw.wordpress.com/bt-gull/) Iceland Gull - John Pogacnik had an adult off Lorain on 4 Feb, which was most likely the same bird that was present the following day (Wes Hatch). John Pogacnik observed another off Lake during a lakeshore waterbird survey the following day Lesser Black-backed Gull - A decent count of 10 were observed at the Wood County Landfill on 5 Feb (Tom Kemp). Singles were reported from Lake on 4 Feb (John Pogacnik), Mogador Reservoir, Portage on 4 Feb (Gregory Bennett), Lorain on 4 Feb (Wes Hatch) and Clear Fork Reservoir, Richland on 8 Feb (John Herman) Glaucous Gull - Singles came from Lorain on 3 Feb (John Pogacnik), Ashtabula on 4 Feb (Cathy Carroll & Tom Frankel), and the Wood County Landfill on 5 Feb (Tom Kemp) Snowy Owl - One was discovered on the roof of Washington Elementary in Lorain on 6 Feb and at least one individual remains in Ashtabula as of 9 Feb (m.obs) Long-eared Owl - Reports came from Warren on 4 Feb (Joe Kappa) and Harrison on 6 Feb (Scott Pendleton). Northern Shrike - Reports came from Fairfield, Franklin, Lucas, Muskingum, Summit, Ottawa, and Wyandot White-winged Crossbills - Good numbers continue to be present in NW Ohio with nearly a hundred individuals being reported throughout Lucas on 5 Feb alone. High counts include 60 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lucas on 6 Feb (m.obs), 40-50 at Wakeman Cemetery, Lucas on 4 Feb (Paul Chad) and 30 at Secor Metropark, Lucas on 5 Feb (Mark & Sherry Plessner). Smaller numbers were also reported from Hancock and Wyandot Common Redpoll - A flock of 17 was observed at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Cuyahoga on 3 Feb (Jen Brumfield) and grew to 45 the following day (David Brinkman). The high count of 70 was observed at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lucas on 5 Feb (Ethan Kistler et al).
