Three White-winged Scoters were still present between 4:00 - 4:30 in the quarry along Island Road. The birds were northwest of the island with a small flock of Am. Coot and Bufflehead near the west shore. Access from vehicle is not easy. Scope needed. Quarry is fenced. I parked briefly off Island Road at the south end at a gated private driveway and away from access to the gate & mailbox and walked north along the road on the grassy road edge on west side. White on wings were visible especially for the one that flapped its wings. Few other waterfowl except for 100-200 Am. Coot and 50-75 Canada Geese, several Horned Grebes, a few PB Grebes, one Lesser Scaup. Island Road intersects Rt. 22 just east of the Rt. 22 & Rt 23 intersection at the Sunoco gas station. Go north on Island Rd and cross bridge over Rt 23. Site is north of Rumpke & south of Highway facility. The north end of Island Road intersets Rt 23 several miles north of Circleville. Light is best in the morning.
