I spent a half hour this morning at Portman Park, a narrow riparian strip near Pickerington Ponds that acts as a decent migrant trap. There was a modest fallout of north-temperate migrants, including 3 E.Phoebes 2 Winter Wrens 5+ Golden-cr.Kinglets 3 E.Towhees 4 Field Sparrows 4 Fox Sparrows 20+ White-throated Sparrows 3 Juncos 25+ Redwings 10+ Common Grackles Notice that Coastal Plain temperate migrants -- like Sapsuckers, House Wrens, Yellow-rumps, Ruby-cr.Kinglets, Chipping Sparrows -- are largely missing. They just haven't started showing up in numbers here yet. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
