While visiting Cleveland, I convinced my family to spend a little time hiking around the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. We went later in the afternoon than Laura Gooch, but had many of the same birds. In about a half hour, we had the clouds dissipate and found a decent mix of early spring migrants. Notables included:

Waterfowl - 450+ Red-br.Mergansers, mostly in offshore flocks. Also a few Lesser Scaup and Bufflehead

Raptors - few, but had 2 Turkey Vultures and 1 Kestrel

Gulls - surprisingly low, with only small #s of Herrings and Bonapartes

Woodpeckers - 3-4 Downies and 6+ Flickers, which was impressive given how spindly the trees are out here

Kinglets - 4-5 Golden-crowns

Sparrows - no great #s, but good diversity with E.Towhee, Chipping, Field, Swamp, Song, Fox, White-throated, and Junco

Blackbirds - lots fo Redwings, no Rusties, and 2 Cowbirds

Finches - only a few House Finches and Goldfinches
