The current discussions about early migrants reminded me of my visit to the hummingbird migration map a few days ago. I was surprised to see the first hummers had already passed through NE Ohio ( I live in Kent) about 3/20 to 3/22. I then looked at all the historic maps (links at bottom of this year's map) and noted that the rough-guess average first appearances are around April 15. They must be fleeing the IRS ;o) I noted only one instance of a March date in all the maps, and that seems suspect. Here is the map - http://www.hummingbirds.net/map-migration.html Brad Bolton, whose hummer feeders have never been out in March, but now are. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
