Yesterday mid-afternoon I stopped by the metroparks fishing access lot for the Chagrin River, Pleasant Valley Rd. just north of Rt. 6 on the river...to see if I could see any activity by the eagle nest. I could make out one bird right away though not a good view but before long it flew away from the nest, riding thermals and circling towards the river and eventually floating almost directly over my head. Over the course of two hours this happened several times and I also saw 1 turkey vulture and a hawk I couldn't identify, plus several crows. Two different eagles, at least, made this circuit, eventually continuing north along the river and returning but only one was an adult, the other, so far as I could make out, looked like a third year bird. I was wondering if this second bird would be involved in the nesting activity or if there might be another adult that stayed in the nest.
