The new Williams Reservoir next to Bresler Reservoir near Lima was loaded with waterfowl today. There were 7 white geese that varied from looking like pure Ross’s geese to likely hybrids. Link to pictures of the geese: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rasamoto/6848807530/ The most numerous ducks were Ring-necked, Ruddy, and Lesser Scaup, with over 600 of these three species. Ducks at the reservoir: Gadwall American Wigeon Mallard American Black Duck Blue-winged Teal Northern Shoveler Northern Pintail Green-winged Teal Canvasback Redhead Ring-necked Duck Greater Scaup Lesser Scaup Red-breasted Merganser Ruddy Duck The wetland west of the reservoir had hundreds of dabblers, and looks like it might be good for shorebirds, though none were seen today. This wetland can be viewed from the path on the reservoir embankment on the west side.
