Hi, Spent my day in the field with Dr. Jim Runkle of Wright State. We covered many of the Lake Erie-Allegheny Plateau habitats from the shores of Lake Erie to the top of Little Mountain. These included Lake Plane Swamp forest, Marsh, and Hemlock Hardwood forest, A few first of year birds for me including Kitty Cat Bird, Palm and Black-throated Green Warblers. Winds out of the east so numbers tended to be small and flocks widely spaced. My first chance to talk to Ray and Jerry since Andy and Michelle discovered the Fish Crow nests in Shaker Heights. We are all of the same mind that while this species has been unreported due to lack of sufficient evidence, they have not gone unnoticed. Thanks so much to Jerry for knowing the exact location of the Chestnut at the Lagoons. Jim was very excited and impressed.
