We spent the morning hiking at Slate Run Metro Park, and it looks like all the Canada geese goslings have hatched! Parents were herding youngsters in every pond as we passed. Other sights of interest there: a pair of yellowlegs flew overhead; we startled a pair of wood ducks and a pair of blue-winged teal ducks at the casting pond near the big picnic area; and, much to my pleasant surprise, we saw the sandhill cranes. I was actually surprised to see two adults foraging for food by themselves -- I'd've thought that one would be on a nest, or that they might even have a colt hatched already.
