Greetings... A Black-necked Stilt was a nice surprise this morning at the Ellis Lake Wetlands in West Chester, Butler County. There are some skypools in the farm fields near the bike trail parking lot off of Firebird Lane along Union Center Blvd. 'Round about noon the pools held 1 male Black-necked Stilt, 5+ Killdeer, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, ~30 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 Dunlin, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, and other birds I no doubt missed. The stilt flew from pool to pool before ending up among the dead cattail stalks on the edge of the dike that heads out roughly north from the parking area. The skypools probably won't last more than a couple more days without some rain. Take care, ---Mike Busam Butler County, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
