Spent a few days in northern Athens County birding the Burr Oak area of Wayne National Forrest. Ovenbirds were numerous. Seemingly outnumbering the eastern towhees. Had very good looks of a male hooded warbler as well. The Tom Jenkins Dam had: canada geese red-tailed hawk 1 common loon 1 horned grebe 1 pied billed grebe 1 spotted sandpiper tree swallows eastern bluebirds purple martins chimney swifts red-winged blackbird brown-headed cowbird american goldfinch Other side of waterway, think may have been in Morgan County, had a muscovy duck Forest and forest edge also held: broad-winged hawk red-shouldered hawk turkey vulture mourning dove pileated woodpecker yellow-bellied sapsucker northern flicker red-bellied woodpecker white-breasted nuthatch american crow blue jay eastern bluebird tufted titmouse carolina chickadee eastern phoebe american robin northern cardinal field sparrow chipping sparrow song sparrow ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
