Sorry for the late report, but I biked around the Gahanna greenbelt yesterday after the rain, focusing mostly on the area around Woodside-Green and Academy Parks and the creek-side bikepath that connects them. Many of the birds were the same as have been reported by others, including Chimney Swifts - 2-4 (the big #s arrived about 1-2 days earlier) Woodpeckers - still lots of Downies and Red-bellies, but little else Vireos - 1-2 singing Warbling along Big Walnut Creek Swallows - small #s of Rough-wings and Barns, likely nesters here Wrens - good #s of both House & Carolina Wrens Gnatcatchers - 8-10, which is a good number for here at this time Thrushes - little other than Robins, but lots of them Mimids - singing Catbirds & Thrashers along the bike trail Warblers - 6 species: Parula, Yellow-throated (2), Nashville, Yellow-rumped, Black-thr.Green, Prothonotary Sparrows - Chipping, Field, and several small flocks of White-throated Icterids - all the expected blackbirds, plus a calling Baltimore Oriole ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
