Pickerel Creek lands are showing some seriously nice mudflat habitat at the moment, as mentioned by Ethan K. awhile back. The hot spot is just north of the observation deck along US-6, where there are extensive flats and the birds to go along with them. Nothing unusual today, unfortunately, but nice numbers. There is also some good habitat at the next pulloff back to the east (by the tan builiding). Greater Yellowlegs 13 Lesser Yellowlegs 50 Least Sandpiper 15 Pectoral Sandpiper 25 Dunlin 1520 Wilson's Snipe 20 Other neat species in the Pick area included all the expected puddle ducks plus a Redhead, Virginia Rail & Sora calling (2 & 3, respectively), a handful of pipits, and 45 flyover Lapland Longspurs. Willow Point WMA had no shorebirds and little habitat, but a Northern Waterthrush. At Lorain, shorebirds = L. Yellowlegs (2) & Dunlin (6).
