Hummingbirds are arriving in Athens County! Had one male ruby-throat during a birding class I was helping with this weekend at Waterloo Wildlife Area, and he was kind enough to sit still in a tree long enough for a few folks to see him in the scope. Then yesterday, I had 2 sneak up behind me on our property, and I was delighted to turn around to see a fantastic pendulum display in progress. I haven't actually seen them at my feeder yet, but I'm glad to know they are here! Other recent migrants of note: 2 male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks at Waterloo on Saturday 1 male Baltimore Oriole seen and heard along my road since Thursday evening 1 Pine Siskin (female, I believe) at my feeders yesterday 1 very loud Great-crested Flycatcher in the woods across from my house yesterday 1 singing Black-billed Cuckoo passing through one evening last week 1 singing Black-throated Green Warbler singing along the back edge of our property yesterday. Happy Migration! Heather Aubke Albany, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
