I went to Evans L. yesterday afternoon (4/11). Viewing conditions were poor, with strong winds and intermittent rain/sleet. There were a lot of birds hugging the northwest shore, which is difficult to view due to the distance from the viewing spot along the northeast shore. Anyways, here's what I came up with: 50 lesser scaup, 25 buffleheads, red-breasted merganser, 500 ruddy ducks, common loon, 2 pied-billed grebes, 2 horned grebes, 30 double-crested cormorants, bald eagle, Cooper's hawk, 50 Am. coots, killdeer, Bonaparte's gull, n. flicker, n. rough-winged swallows, tree swallows, and barn swallows. On the way home, I checked on the great horned owl nest in Lowellville and saw 1 large youngster in the nest.
