I went to Villa Angela/Wildwood Friday evening most noticeable were the Barn Swallows, 2 Yellow-rumped Warblers in Wildwood woods, Pine Warbler in Villa Angela main pine trees (real high up) and 4 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers near entrance. So today I went back around 11:45am and realized there were more birds today. It started to rain heavy after 1pm so left at 1:45pm. I returned around 5:15pm til 7:15pm. Here are some of the birds I found today. Seemed to be more sparrows here finally, more Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Creepers, new House Wren. Red-breasted Mergansers - small numbers scattered on lake Common Loon 1 VA Double-crested Cormorants ~ 85 flying west in evening Great Egret 1 flying west in AM Great Blue Herons 2 Turkey Vultures kettle 6 Friday Bonaparte's Gulls - dozens (not as many as last weekend) Tree Swallows ~ 6 Barn Swallow ~ 20 (many more in evening) Brown Creepers 9 House Wren 1 heard VA (FOS) Winter Wren 1 seen VA Golden-crowned Kinglet ~ 8 Ruby-crowned Kinglet ~ 14 Hermit Thrush 3 Pine Warbler 1 seen near Lakeshore parking pine trees @ 7:10pm today (first heard chip call) Eastern Towhee 2 Chipping Sparrows ~ 12 with dozen Juncos in Villa Angela entrance grass/ravine @ 5:15pm (first I have seen here) Field Sparrows 2 seen VA (more heard) Fox Sparrows 7-8 Song Sparrows 6 White-throated Sparrows ~ 9 (mostly near lake in VA) Savannah Sparrows 2 (first seen marina area in AM/still there @ 7pm all over marina area) Dark-eyed Junco 12 (near entrance also fenceline of library/field) Nancy Anderson Richmond Hts, OH http://www.flickr.com/photos/nancy_a/ At noon it was 55 degrees, winds 10 mph SSW, from 5-7pm 59-57 degrees, winds 16-14 South. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
