I headed for Villa Angela and Wildwood State Parks on Lake Erie today to see if I could find anything. I was there a ridiculously long time for what I was seeing from 11am to 4pm. Temp 43 deg, winds 8-10mph N, NNE to N. The cold weather brought back more Red-breasted Mergansers when I didn't see any Friday evening. Saw no warblers. Only new birds I saw here were Blue-headed Vireos and White-eyed Vireo. Here are just a few of the birds seen: Hooded Mergansers 3 females in marina Red-breasted Mergansers 70+ Bonaparte's Gulls 30+ still some in marina White-eyed Vireo 1 (VA) Blue-headed Vireo 2 (VA) House Wrens 3 (VA) Ruby-crowned Kinglets 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 11 (mostly VA) Hermit Thrush ~ 13 Eastern Towhees 1 (hard to see today) Gray Catbirds 2 VA Northern Mockingbird 1 (east end marina) Brown Thrashers 8 - many singing Field Sparrows 2 (WW near creek) White-throated Sparrows ~ 25 (many near fenceline of mobile home park/VA near lake) Song Sparrows - few Dark-eyed Junco 1 (east end of mobile home park near fenceline VA) Brown-headed Cowbirds 12-15 very numerous today Few Northern Flickers, many Blue Jays and A.
